項秉華芭蕾舞學校成立於一九八二年，這40年來，是澳門歷史最悠久，自一九八八年開始獲得英國皇家芭蕾舞考試局認可，承辦本澳青少年芭蕾舞各級文憑考試的芭蕾舞學校。 學校創辦人項秉華女士與張順勝先生於六十年代初畢業於北京舞蹈學校，曾擔任中央芭蕾舞團主要演員。直至八十年代，他們來澳定居，有感當時本澳年青一代缺乏學習芭蕾舞的機會，於是萌起辦校的念頭。

走過了40多個年頭，學校數度遷址，規模亦相應擴大，面積由二、三百平方呎擴充到現時的三千四百平方呎。由一個班級增至十五個班級，學生人數由幾人增加至三百多人，卅年來共培訓了數仟餘名學員。現時位於皇朝聖德倫街的校址，包括有兩間教室，學生更衣室，家長休息室和行政辦公室，設施齊備寬敞，是私人學校中較為完善的。

除了良好的教學環境，學校以英國皇家芭蕾舞學院和俄羅斯瓦岡諾娃芭蕾舞體系的教材為授課內容，培養學生對芭蕾舞的興趣，啟發兒童才智，訓練他們建立自信、合作精神和團體概念，並使他們協調體能，優雅儀態和熏陶高尚的情操；藉著每年十一月校慶的大日子主辦“未來芭蕾之星”大型表演會，由各個班級的學生學以致用，吸收演出經驗，促進彼此的交流和學習，亦藉此豐富本澳的文化藝術生活。

The Hong Peng Wa Ballet School was established in 1982. It is not just the oldest ballet school in Macao but also the school in Macao that received the recognition from the Examination Board of the Royal Academy of Dance and undertake all levels of diploma examinations for young people since 1988. The founders of the School, Hong Peng Wa and Cheong Son Seng, both graduated from the Beijing Dance Academy in early 60s. Upon their graduation, they joined the National Ballet of China, where they were promoted to principal dancers. They moved to Macao in the 80s and found that the young generation did not have the opportunity to learn ballet. Therefore, they established the first private ballet school in Macao.

Over the last 40 years, the school has moved a few times. From a small place about 250 sq.ft. to the present school of 3400 sq.ft. It started with just one class and grows gradually to fifteen. It has more than 300 students now. The school has taught more than 4000 students during these years. The present school is located in Rua Cidade de Santarem, No.406, NAPE. It includes two classrooms, changing rooms, rest areas for parents and an administrative office. The completeness of its facilities can rarely be found in other private schools.

Besides a quality-learning environment, the decision to use a mix curriculum of the Royal Academy of Dance and the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet is also deemed important. The school aims to inspire the children’s intelligence and foster their love to ballet. Ballet training helps children to create strong bodies and good posture, and develop their coordination, self-expression and musicality. Every November, the school will organize an annual performance, “Future Stars of Ballet”. It can provide students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and acquire performance experience. The annual performance can also enrich the cultural life of Macau.
